This Projects aims to conduct an artistic workshop in collaboration with local and international artists (5 European and 5 Palestinian artists) to provide their artistic interventions in the location of Hisham’s Palace in Jericho and what it upholds from artistic sculptures, monuments, and its special and rare architecture. In addition, the workshop will be oriented towards the visitors and communities living around the Palace.
This location is one of the primary touristic sites in Palestine, the challenge in this project is the additions and enrichment that artists can provide to the location. Artists will have the creative freedom to implement their ideas but in a specified regulatory environment as a result of the sensitivity of the location.
We invite local and international artists to apply for their participation and sharing their artistic vision in this workshop which will be taking place in Jericho between Jan 9-16. This project will examine the historical importance of the location and the artistic intervention that will be implemented by artists. Thus, creating a platform for the discussion of historical impact and its relation to contemporary art practices.
