European Union National Institutes for Culture, Consulates General and Representative Offices covering the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Jerusalem on the 28th of February 2012 to create EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) in the oPt.
EUNIC oPt has been established through the efforts of the following organizations: British Council, Consulate General of Spain/Technical Cooperation Office, Danish House, Goethe Institut, Institut Français, Representative Office of Poland, Representative Office of Portugal, Representative Office of Slovenia.
The Office of the EU Representative in Jerusalem supports the initiative and welcomes its status as an observer.
EUNIC oPt aims to build an active European network whose primary goal is to foster European cultural co-operation with partners in the occupied Palestinian territory by developing and promoting shared projects in all cultural fields.
The Institut Français will chair the EUNIC oPt during its first year of operation and the Goethe Institut will be the deputy Chair.
